The CTE Fair has come to Wayzata High School for many years now. Numerous people attend for the free trinkets given by the many stalls around the gym; however, the fair has much more to offer than many students realize.
Various Careers


The fair consists of 20+ stalls and tables set up with different careers, colleges, job opportunities, etc., that provide students with the opportunity to speak with representatives of said organizations. These stalls offer the chance to hear a detailed insight into the career for students looking to find their future. The different tables have a wide variety of interactive experiences ranging from a flight simulation to a spin-the-wheel prize counter. This opportunity can be an excellent chance for students to find a future career path. Being a high school student can be stressful as you have to plan a future at a young age; nevertheless, attending this fair can reduce the pressure of decide a possible life-long career path.
Personal Experiences

A variety of people attend this fair and often have a wide range of opinions on it. Autumn Schow, a sophomore who attended, believes “[the fair is] important because it helps [people] learn about the different careers. People often think of the basic [careers] but [the fair] can spark an interest in a new career.” Autumn’s experience at the fair as a student was just one of many students. Nicole Ogranovich, another sophomore who attended, offers a similar experience, going more in depth on how “[the] station for the FBI was interesting, [and] it has so many more fields [people] can participate in.” On the contrary, a representative of the Luther automobile company, Jake, gives his experience recalling that when he was a student, he didn’t have fairs like this. He goes on to explain how “it’s cool to see careers that you could go into.”
Overall, the CTE fair is a great experience for students to learn about the world of careers and opportunities they would otherwise never think to explore.
