Everyone has their own unique music taste, and the students at Wayzata High School do not disappoint with theirs. After a series of interviews with three seniors: Siena Yowan, Caden Post, and Natalie Smith, we get an in-depth look at what their playlists look like. This analysis of their go-to songs and artists uncovers their vibrant personalities and inspires some songs to add to your personal playlist.
Siena Yowan’s music taste has a variety of different artists and songs, but one artist she is consistently drawn to is Travis Scott. She enjoys his innovative sound and catchy lyrics, finding something new to appreciate with every listen. While her favorite album is ASTROWORLD, she specifically enjoys listening to “Skeletons.” “I would have to say my favorite Travis Scott song is ‘Skeletons,’ because it gives me night drive vibes. I love playing it in the car,” Siena Yowan shares. What makes “Skeletons” stand out for Siena is its ability to blend chill vibes with the energy of the rap genre. Yowan also shares how she mostly listens to rap music, as it is fun to sing along to and has good beats. Some of her top artists not only include Travis Scott, but also Drake and Playboi Carti, more popular modern-day rappers.
Caden Post’s music taste does not stray too far from Siena’s, as he is a big fan of rap music as well. When it comes to getting pumped up, Post has a go-to track that never fails to ignite his enthusiasm: “IloveUIHateYou” by Playboi Carti. What makes “IloveUIHateYou” the ultimate hype song for Caden? It’s the addicting rhythm that grabs you from the first beat. Playboi Carti’s unique vocal style and the song’s chaotic, yet captivating production create an atmosphere of pure energy and excitement. “IloveUIHateYou is definitely my hype song, I love the beat, it just gets me in a good and pumped up mood,” Post said. He also shared a few more personal touches to his playlist, like his most nostalgic song, along with a song that describes him. Caden Post shared that “Psycho” by Post Malone is nostalgic to him because it

reminds him of middle school. “A super nostalgic song for me is “Psycho” by post Malone because it reminds me of middle school, my friends and I used to listen to that song non stop, so it definitely has some meaning for me,” Post shared. He described how he likes the beat, and how it is perfect for a summer night. Caden Post also shared an album that represents his personality, “Alone At Prom” by Tory Lanez. He shares how this album has some chill songs, but also some that have more energy to them which he connects to his personality. “I think this album just kind of envisions me as a person with some of the more low-key songs, along with the ones that have, like, more of a beat,” Post said.
Unlike Siena Yowan and Caden Post, Natalie Smith shares what she is

listening to. Natalie Smith listens to a variety of artists, but ones that stand out amongst others are Zach Bryan, Noah Kahan, and Taylor Swift. “I probably listen to Zach Bryan the most out of anyone, but I love Taylor Swift and Noah Kahan,” Smith said. She shares how she enjoys some of the upbeat rhythms, and how it keeps her in a good, positive mood. “It just sounds natural and happy, which I like.” When Natalie Smith was asked what her favorite song was by Zach Bryan, she shared that “Godspeed” is her personal favorite. “I like the lyrics, and I saw him perform it live which was so, so good.” Smith said. Just like how Caden Post was asked what album represents him, so was Natalie Smith. Smith claimed that she thinks 1989 by Taylor Swift represents her most because of the good vibes. “An album that describes me most is definitely 1989 by Taylor Swift, because it has overall good vibes and that just definitely relates to me,” she shared.
From rap music and Travis Scott to Taylor Swift and pop music, Wayzata High School fosters a community of students with a variety of different music preferences that make up who they are. This variety in musical taste reflects the individuality of the student body, contributing to a vibrant and diverse community at the high school.
