When we first pulled into the ranch, we were confused because we had to drive through an active mine to get there. Little did we know, we would have a great time exploring what nature has to offer while riding horses.
The River Valley Ranch in Jordan, Minnesota, has four hundred acres of land along the Minnesota River with designated horseback riding trails winding through the natural scenery. This ranch has fifty horses that are mostly used for tours around the land but also in order for the ranch to run. It has been in business since 1962.
Imagine taking a few hours out of your busy week and taking a peaceful forty minute drive down to a ranch in Jordan, Minnesota. You could go with friends, family, or even alone. With the smell of horse poop in the air, you check in and pay. After just sixty dollars is extracted from your bank account, you are ready for an amazing hour of peace and nature. Your hour features the river, a lake, open fields, and dense forests for a diverse ride. Overall, It’s a great place to visit when you need a short break.
This microadventure isn’t for everyone, but if you’re someone who enjoys being outdoors and around animals, it would be great for you. Even if you don’t love nature or animals, you could still get something out of this experience. The tour guides are very helpful, so you don’t have to be a horse whisperer to learn how to steer these stallions. This activity is very accessible, but some people would like it more than others.
This microadventure I went on was a one-of-a-kind experience, and I truly think that anyone could benefit from this break in their busy life.
